'ogre.com' is my (Leif's) playground, for various web sites, projects and just somewhere to try new stuff. As you can see, the content various wildly between my own amusements, to technical tidbits of information I find useful. I try to write stuff down in the blog as I encounter something new / tricky, most for myself so that I know what the hell I did to solve a particular problem.
About me
I'm a long time software engineer, with experiences from the early days of the Internet up until the latest crazes. I've worked for
* Infoseek - one of the first engineers, working on our proxy server, security, and various systems related project
* Netscape - Principal engineer, working on many different projects, including LDAP and Mozilla.
* Yahoo - Principal engineer, one of the first members of the in-house Tiger, creator of various anti-spam systems, and architect for Yahoo's Edge Services.
I enjoy designing new and complex systems, and I'm sort of a jack of all trades. I try to be as pragmatic as possible when it comes to software development, simply use the best/right tools for the task. As such, I have to admit to even writing Perl programs, even though my personal preference of language is Python and C/C++.
